QLD: Coalition agreement open says Sprngborg
Queensland's deputy National Party leader LAWRENCE SPRINGBORG is refusing to speculate
on whether the party will form a coalition with non-Labor members.
Before Saturday's poll, his leader ROB BORBIDGE said the Nationals would enter a coalition
only with the Liberals.
But Labor's massive victory has devastated the conservatives.
The Nationals have lost at least 10 of their 23 seats and the Liberals have lost seven
of their nine seats.
Mr SPRINGBORG says the existing agreement with the Liberals must now be put on the
table for re-examination.
He's also refusing to speculate on the Nationals' leadership following Mr BORBIDGE'S
announcement that he's standing down.
The National's police spokesman, MIKE HORAN, has told ABC radio he'll put his name
forward for the party's leadership.
