The city school district will buy a Tibbits Avenue home for $95,000 and use the property for a parking lot at the new School 14, Superintendent Mario Scalzi said Wednesday.
Ellen and Richard Arnold agreed to sell the property at 1726 Tibbits Avenue, which would have otherwise been surrounded by the new school building and property.
State aid will pay for 75 percent of the purchase price.
Under the agreement reached last week, the Arnolds must leave the house by Sept. 21, Scalzi said.
A woman answering the phone at the Arnold residence Tuesday afternoon declined to discuss the sale.
