BINGHAMTON CLINIC BRACES FOR ABORTION PROTESTERS.(Local)

A women's health clinic here expects to have at least 50 escorts guarding its doors today while up to 200 people gather outside to protest abortion, organizers for both sides said Thursday.

"The police are planning to be here all night to protect the driveway and so forth, so they at least don't come in with cars to block the driveway," said Margaret Johnston, clinic administrator at Southern Tier Women's Services.

"Basically, we are just concerned with getting our patients in safely, rather than having counter demonstrations," she said.
